Obituary for Lamuel Levi Richburg

MANNING – Lamuel Levi Richburg, 77, husband of Janice Valaree Ridgeway Richburg, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at his home.

Born November 8, 1941, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Coleman Levi Richburg and the late Vermelle Lizzie Dennis Richburg. He was a US Army veteran and was a retired maintenance superintendent with Georgia Pacific with 42 years of service. He was a Gideon, and he was an active member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church where he was a member of the senior adult Sunday school class and served on the board of trustees. He was always willing to help when extra projects were needed.

He is survived by his wife of Manning; four daughters, Jan Richburg of Sumter, Ann Thorp of Manning, Amy Richburg and Joy Lynch, both of Charleston; four grandchildren, Joshua Thorp of Kailua, Hawaii, Ryan Morin (Jason), Zach Lynch and Cody Lynch, all of Manning; two great grandchildren, Gavin Thorp and Jackson English, both of Manning; a sister, Edith Holladay (Wayne) of Manning; seven brothers, Paul Richburg (Sarah), Ray Richburg (Tora), Ernie Richburg (Ruby), James Richburg (Tammy), Lynwood Richburg, and David Richburg, all of Manning, and Johnny Richburg (Debra) of Moncks Corner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Upright and the Rev. Elton “Pappy” Hilton officiating. Burial will follow at Clarendon Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Coley Holladay, Curt Richburg, Jason Richburg, Josh Richburg, Marion Richburg and Shawn Richburg.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Clarendon County Gideons.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence, 6081 Bloomville Road, Manning.

The family would like to thank Diane White and Rita Hunt of MSA Hospice for all of their loving care and attention.
