Obituary for Ralph Edward Goldsberry

SUMMERTON – Ralph Edward Goldsberry, 84, widower of Doris Ann Thompson Goldsberry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Cheraw Healthcare.

Born June 8, 1935, in Millfield, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ralph Emerson Goldsberry and Mary Etta Chadwell Goldsberry. He was a US Air Force veteran, a 50 year member of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, past president and member of Athens County Shrine Club, member of the Aladdin Temple Shrine Club, member of Athens York Rite and member of The Plains United Methodist Church in Ohio.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Goldsberry (Kristi) of Hickory, North Carolina, Earl Thomas Goldsberry (Cheryl) of Cheraw and Jack Goldsberry (Julie) of Spencer, Ohio; a brother, Dale Goldsberry (Ava) of Ohio; three sisters, Karen Sheffield (Emery) of Ohio, Carol Hawkins (Greg) of North Carolina and Charlene King (J.B.) of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Goldsberry of Texas; seven grandchildren, Mia, Thomas, Jackie, Matthew, Grace, Kayleigh and Karina; and five great grandchildren, Kristopher, Lexi, Jamie, Chelsee and Sullivan.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Allen Goldsberry; a great grandson, Carver Goldsberry; and a brother, Harry Goldsberry.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Stephens Funeral Home.

A visitation, memorial service and burial will be held at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children – Cincinnati, Donor Development, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
