Frances Horton Elliott - June 15th, 2010

AIKEN – Frances Horton Elliott, estimable wife, mother and daughter, formerly of Summerton, died after a long illness at Mattie C. Hall in Aiken on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Born on December 7, 1942, in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late William Everett and Edna Chewning Horton of Davis Station.
Mrs. Elliott attended Palmer Business School in Columbia. She spent some of her happiest days at Schofield Middle School in Aiken, where she served as a guidance and summer school secretary. Everywhere, she was admired and beloved; and she was known especially for her endearing sense of humor, genuine love of people and uniform kindness. Before her sickness prevented her from attending, she was a member of the Summerton Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her husband, Joseph Cantey Elliott Sr. of Aiken; her daughter, Dr. Julia Elizabeth Elliott and her husband Steve Dennis of Cayce; her twin sons and their wives, Joseph Cantey Elliott Jr. and Laura Jacobs Elliott of Augusta, GA, and William Roderick Elliott and his wife Beth Simons Elliott of Austin, TX; her youngest son, Robert Anderson Elliott of Aiken; one grandson, Reuben Oliver Elliott of Austin, TX; her brother, William Everett Horton Jr. and his wife Pauline of Manning; her sister, Joan Byrdic of Rock Hill; a nephew and two nieces.
Honoring her wishes, funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, in the Summerton Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Garland Hart officiating. Burial was in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Miles Elliott, Tiege Elliott, Bobby Fleming, Robbie Elmore, Frankie Byrdic, and Robert Brunson.
For the many kindnesses and attentive care from the staff at Mattie C. Hall, the family of Mrs. Elliott wishes to extend its sincere thanks.
Should you wish to, in lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Summerton Presbyterian Church, 14 S. Cantey Street, Summerton, SC 29148 or to a charity of your choice.
