MANNING – William Darry Thigpen, 59, widower of Sondra Kaye Baxley Thigpen, formerly of New Zion, died Monday, June 7, 2010, at his residence.
Born December 27, 1950, in Cades, SC, he was the son of the late John Hugh and Azalee Bennett Thigpen. He was a truckdriver, and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Tamara Bryant and husband Craig of New Zion; a son, William D. Thigpen Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Turbeville; a brother, Johnny Thigpen and his wife Jo of Cades; a sister, Phyllis Coward and her husband Dale of Scranton; four grandchildren, William D. Thigpen III, Whitney Thigpen, Thomas Bryant, and Tanner Bryant.
A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in New Hope Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Tim Nail officiating. Pallbearers were Roy Welch, Mike Anderson, Wayne McKenzie, Doug Evans, Hal Edwards, and Kyle Edwards.
