Rev. Thomas M. Mellette - April 22nd, 2010


   SANTEE – Rev. Thomas Madison Mellette, 75, husband of Barbara Ann DuBose Mellette, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.
    Born August 3, 1934, in Turbeville, he was the son of the late Miller H. and Bessie McNeil Mellette. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and attended Columbia Bible College. He was a retired minister with fifty years of service to the ministry, a member of Summerton Baptist Church, where he pastored for ten years, and a retired educator and counselor in Williamsburg, Orangeburg, Sumter and Clarendon Counties.
    Surviving in addition to his wife of Santee are a daughter, Vicki Ouzts and her husband Rock of Manning; two grandsons, Robert “Robbie” Thomas Ouzts, and Michael Owen Ouzts; a sister, Marbeth Brown of Blythewood; and a brother, Russell D. Mellette and his wife Grace of Lexington.
    Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, in Summerton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rob Pierce and the Rev. Donald Duncan officiating. Burial was in Clarendon Memorial Gardens in Manning.
