NEW ZION – Homer Conrad Miles, 67, husband of Carol Baird Miles, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Born March 27, 1943, in Lake City, he was the son of the late Roland and Thedocia Langley Miles. He was retired market manager for Piggly-Wiggly, a U. S. Army veteran, and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of New Zion are two daughters, Carol Ann Plant and her husband Kenneth of Autryville, NC, and Dinah Winnail and her husband Dr. Scott Winnail of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Collin and Tara Winnail, and Evan Plant; a special grandchild, Will Stewart; and two sisters, Joyce Miles of Lake City, and Libby Cook of Columbia.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Penny Lynn Miles; and a brother, Jimmy Miles.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with Dr. Scott Winnail and Pastor Don Waterhouse officiating. Burial was in New Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Coleman, Ben Benenhaley, Jay McElveen, Johnny Baird, Joe Amerson, Lance Coker, Hunter Johnson, and Joey Robinson.
